Title: VP, Brand Location: HQ Department: Brand Employment Type Full time Location Type Hybrid Job Description: Our Mission Prose is truly custom hair and skin care made-to-order—just for you. Our line of custom products are made by an in-house, Paris-based R&D team of gifted chemists who combine natural ingredients in innovative ways alongside dermatologists, giving consumers clean skin care, hair care and impeccable results. At the heart of Prose’s success is Singular, its proprietary AI-powered beauty-tech platform, which has revolutionized personalized beauty at scale. Marrying a technology-driven approach with an apothecary-style concept, all Prose hair and skin care products are personalized to your one-of-a-kind hair, skin, goals and environment. We’re a company that wants to change beauty practices, so we’re changing the way beauty companies practice. As a certified B Corporation, a Public Benefit Corporation and Climate Neutral, we’re proving that good business is always sustainable. With Prose, there’s nothing sacrificed to bring you great products—not trees, materials, wages, or performance. Prose & Singular in Numbers Founded in 2017, with hubs in Paris, New York, and Los Angeles 10M+ consultations completed 2M customers and 350K active subscribers 21M custom products made, with 1M+ unique formulas 350+ team members across disciplines $600M+ in lifetime sales, with $165M+ revenue in 2024 Profitable since 2024 Position Summary Prose is looking for a VP, Brand to drive brand strategy, brand voice, and brand awareness — with the customer at the heart of it all. Reporting to the Chief Brand Innovation Officer, you’ll partner on Prose’s overall brand vision and own the strategy and execution that bring it to life across earned media, community, creator advocacy, campaigns, and social impact — making personalization a cultural narrative. This is a role for a strategic leader who builds through their team. You’ll set positioning and narrative for how the brand expresses itself, manage a team of four plus external agencies, own your budget, and measure brand health so the work is accountable to real outcomes — not just activity. You’ll also be the senior, steady voice in the moments that matter most. What makes this role distinctly Prose: brand here isn’t a layer on top of the product — it’s an extension of a genuinely personalized, made-to-order product and a real commitment to doing business well. As a B Corp, Public Benefit Corporation, and Climate Neutral company, Prose’s social impact work is substantive, not decorative. And because Prose is built on an AI beauty-tech platform, how the brand shows up in AI-driven discovery is a frontier this role gets to shape. Key Responsibilities Brand strategy & narrative — Partner with the Chief Brand Innovation Officer on Prose’s overall brand strategy, and own the strategy across earned media, community, advocacy, campaigns, and social impact — turning positioning into a clear, consistent narrative at every touchpoint, with the customer at the center. Holistic brand awareness — Build full-funnel brand awareness across earned, owned, social, partnerships, and community — increasing how many of the right people know, understand, and choose Prose, not just how much coverage we generate. Customer centricity — Use voice-of-customer insight, emerging customer trends, and data to shape messaging and brand decisions, partnering closely with Growth and Product so the brand connects to the end-to-end customer journey. Campaigns, creative & cultural moments — Partner with NPD + Creative to concept and execute 360° campaigns, brand moments, cultural partnerships, and experiential activations; own marketing briefs and cross-functional kickoffs with Creative, Growth, and Product; and guide asset development across platforms and formats. Marketing & content activation — Lead marketing and campaign activation and always-on content development, sustaining and evolving product storytelling through seasonal repositioning as the market shifts. Brand advocacy & influencer — Build brand advocacy and the influencer/creator program with both an organic and performance lens, building authentic relationships that expand Prose’s reach with new audiences and driving EMV./ PR & earned media — Lead proactive PR to build industry and consumer visibility and credibility, overseeing the PR and SEO/blog agency to grow quality coverage, share of voice, and LLM-optimized earned presence that reinforces Prose’s positioning. Communications & crisis — Own communications, corporate/internal comms and crisis readiness, protecting brand reputation with fast, clear, well-judged response when issues arise. Community & social — Lead and expand community, blog, and social management, ensuring Prose shows up consistently across owned social channels (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, etc.). Social impact (B Corp) — Own Prose’s social impact agenda, advancing the company’s commitments as a certified B Corporation and connecting purpose to brand storytelling. AI discoverability — Ensure Prose is accurately and favorably represented where customers increasingly discover beauty — AI assistants and answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews). Partner with Growth, SEO, and content on generative engine optimization (GEO/AEO) and LLM optimization, and treat AI surfaces as a brand channel to monitor and shape. Budget & measurement — Own the brand budget across team, agency, and programs, and measure brand health and ROI (awareness, consideration, share of voice, sentiment, marketing mix modeling/MMM) to show impact and reallocate toward what works. Team leadership — Manage, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team across comms, brand advocacy, social, and social impact — including hiring the open Sr. Manager, Brand Advocacy. Key Qualifications 10+ years in brand, communications, or marketing, including senior leadership of brand strategy at a consumer brand. Proven track record building holistic brand awareness across earned, social, community, and partnerships — with measurable results. Experience leading integrated 360° campaigns, creative, and content development across channels. Customer-obsessed; fluent in using insight, emerging trends, and data to shape brand messaging and decisions. Experience owning a brand budget and measuring brand health and ROI (awareness, consideration, share of voice, sentiment, MMM). Experience leading PR, communications, corporate/internal communications, and crisis through in-house teams and external agencies. Experience leading influencer/creator advocacy and community/social programs. Familiarity with brand, creator, and measurement tools — e.g., CreatorIQ, Nectar Social, Dash Hudson, ShopMy, and brand-health trackers like Qualtrics. Proven people leadership — you’ve built, managed, and developed multidisciplinary teams. Strong executive presence and stakeholder management; a clear, calm communicator who earns trust internally and externally. Familiarity with building brand discoverability in AI assistants and answer engines (GEO/AEO) is a strong plus. Experience with social impact, purpose, or sustainability communications is a strong plus (B Corp or mission-driven brand experience especially welcome). Beauty, wellness, or premium DTC experience is a plus Knowledge and passion for prestige skincare and haircare categories. Active, daily use of AI tools in your current workflow — for analysis, reporting, research, or creative thinking. We’re looking for someone who already treats AI as a work tool, not someone willing to learn it someday. Perks & Benefits Prose fosters inclusivity, learning, and diversity within our teams and workplace. Just as we celebrate unique beauty, every team member is encouraged to show up as their full self. In addition to creating an environment where all individuals feel welcome, we offer benefits that include: Competitive PTO Competitive compensation package Company sponsored health care plan (medical, dental and vision plans) 401k + matching FSA and commuter benefits Snacks and lunches In the New York area, the anticipated base salary range for this role is $250,000 to $275,000 annually (+20% discretionary bonus and equity). Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills. This role will be a hybrid position based out of our Williamsburg office and the expectation is that this person will be in the office 3 days per week. Prose Values Intentional Inclusivity We know the best ideas come from open minds and willingness to listen. While our products cater to the individual, an invitation into our process is always open to our community. We value our differences and diverse backgrounds by communicating openly, managing with transparency and striving to understand one another’s perspective. It’s a key ingredient to our innovation. Connected Collaboration Our strength as a group will outlast our efforts as individual contributors. With offices across countries, staying inventive and agile deepens our clear vision and consistent communication. We stay in a spirit of entrepreneurial collaboration: We do not have consensus at all times, but we trust one another to work toward our common goals. Our success is an expression and result of our progressive and gratifying teamwork. Driven, Together We value ownership and coaching that encourages employees to think constructively and creatively about the business. We view employees as leaders and individuals who are accountable, resourceful and responsible. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to lead. We recognize that in order to continue thinking one step ahead, we will need to try new things. We strive to provide an open environment that accepts this truth, making space for new ideas to emerge. Humanity Always We assume good intentions in every interaction, keeping ourselves accountable for the climate we create. We seek to understand our co-workers through this lens of conscious benevolence, authenticity and fellowship. We operate with the intention of preserving resources, creating an environment we can all live in – for our business and the world. Sustainable care is essential to our ethos as an organization. We take a mindful approach to how we think about our people (employees) and our planet.

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
