<br>Senior MuleSoft API Integration Engineer (Contract)<p><strong>Location:</strong> Remote - United States Only</p>Overview<p>We are seeking an experienced <strong>Senior MuleSoft API Integration Engineer</strong> to join our Technology organization supporting enterprise API integration initiatives within a large-scale banking environment.</p><p>This role will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting MuleSoft API solutions that connect critical business applications, third-party services, distributed platforms, and legacy enterprise systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in building scalable integration solutions, improving API capabilities, and supporting modernization efforts across the organization.</p><p>The initial focus of this engagement will be the integration of external enterprise services, including Experian platforms, into existing banking applications and workflows. The ideal candidate will have strong MuleSoft development experience along with familiarity working across both IBM mainframe and distributed Microsoft .NET environments.</p>Primary Responsibilities<ul><li>Design, develop, test, deploy, and support MuleSoft API integration solutions utilizing the Anypoint Platform.</li><li>Build scalable, secure, and reusable APIs to support enterprise application integration initiatives.</li><li>Develop API-led connectivity solutions integrating distributed applications, legacy platforms, and third-party services.</li><li>Support integration efforts between IBM mainframe environments and modern distributed applications.</li><li>Design and implement RESTful APIs, API specifications, data transformations, and integration workflows.</li><li>Develop and maintain MuleSoft applications using MuleSoft development standards and best practices.</li><li>Create and maintain DataWeave transformations and integrations using JSON, XML, and other enterprise data formats.</li><li>Collaborate with architects, application developers, business analysts, and project teams to understand requirements and deliver integration solutions.</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve complex MuleSoft API issues across development, testing, and production environments.</li><li>Ensure integrations meet enterprise standards for scalability, performance, security, and reliability.</li><li>Participate in API governance, lifecycle management, documentation, and operational support activities.</li><li>Develop technical documentation including API specifications, deployment documentation, support procedures, and design artifacts.</li><li>Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers.</li><li>Assist with CI/CD deployment processes and enterprise platform onboarding activities.</li><li>Identify opportunities to improve integration processes, performance, and operational efficiency.</li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul><li>7+ years of software development and enterprise integration experience.</li><li>5+ years of hands-on MuleSoft development experience.</li><li>Strong experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including API design, development, deployment, and troubleshooting.</li><li>Experience designing and developing enterprise REST APIs and web services.</li><li>Experience with API integration patterns and API-led connectivity.</li><li>Experience working with:<ul><li>REST</li><li>SOAP</li><li>JSON</li><li>XML</li><li>DataWeave</li><li>OpenAPI / Swagger</li></ul></li><li>Experience integrating applications within a distributed Microsoft .NET environment, including:<ul><li>C#</li><li>.NET Framework and/or .NET Core</li><li>ASP.NET</li><li>SQL Server</li></ul></li><li>Experience working with enterprise mainframe technologies, including:<ul><li>z/OS</li><li>COBOL</li><li>CICS</li><li>DB2</li><li>IBM MQ</li></ul></li><li>Experience developing secure integrations using authentication and authorization standards such as:<ul><li>OAuth</li><li>JWT</li><li>TLS</li><li>API security standards</li></ul></li><li>Strong SQL/database integration experience.</li><li>Experience with source control and CI/CD processes.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Previous experience within banking, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.</li><li>Experience integrating with credit bureau, identity verification, fraud prevention, or financial services platforms.</li><li>Experience supporting integrations with Experian or similar enterprise providers.</li><li>MuleSoft Certified Developer certification.</li><li>Experience with MuleSoft CloudHub, Runtime Fabric, or API Manager.</li><li>Experience with Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud environments.</li><li>Experience with enterprise messaging technologies such as IBM MQ or Kafka.</li><li>Experience supporting production applications and resolving critical integration issues.<br><br></li></ul>
