About the position

At Organics Ocean, we're seeking an E-commerce Operations Manager to own and optimize our entire DTC ecosystem. This role exists to lead the systems, structure, and team that keep our Shopify-driven operations running seamlessly, without leadership dependency. You'll design and refine scalable processes, coordinate cross-functional execution, and ensure every launch, integration, and workflow function with precision. From aligning developers and designers to partnering with marketing, supply chain, and customer care, you'll create the connective tissue that keeps growth on track. If you love bringing order to complexity, thrive in high-accountability environments, and take pride in owning results end to end, we'd love to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Own all Shopify structures (collections, tags, product logic, pages, catalog management, and app integrations).
  • Ensure the ecosystem runs autonomously.
  • Establish and maintain a structured e-commerce governance framework, including Stage → Approve → Test → Deploy processes for all website releases.
  • Ensure appropriate QA, stakeholder approvals, and deployment standards are consistently followed.
  • Reduce launch defects through disciplined release management and operational controls.
  • Establish clear priorities, monitor execution, conduct regular 1:1s, and hold contributors accountable for meeting commitments and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Care, and Performance teams to align launches and site updates.
  • Drive execution consistency across internal team members and external partners.
  • Develop and document SOPs, training materials, and repeatable workflows for efficiency and consistency.
  • Own end-to-end operational execution of ecommerce launches, ensuring cross-functional readiness, successful deployment, and post-launch validation.
  • Serve as the operational owner responsible for launch quality, execution timelines, and issue resolution.
  • Oversee day-to-day eCommerce operations and problem-solve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Define, monitor, and report on key e-commerce operational metrics, including deployment velocity, launch quality, approval-to-live cycle time, site health, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide leadership with regular reporting on project status, risks, blockers, and execution performance.
  • Audit existing eCommerce workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements.
  • Use dashboards and analytics (Looker, Triple Whale, Shopify reports) to track operational performance and drive decisions.
  • Manage tools, subscriptions, and technology stack to keep systems efficient and cost-effective.
  • Monitor ongoing ecommerce site health, identify operational issues, coordinate resolution, and continuously improve platform stability and customer experience.
  • Evaluate new Shopify apps and integrations to enhance checkout, upsells, or user experience.
  • Work with developers to test and deploy new features or automations.
  • Maintain an organized ecosystem with clear documentation and QA processes.
  • Leverage advanced AI platforms (such as Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalent enterprise-tier tools) to streamline day-to-day operational workflows, accelerate content production, automate reporting summaries, and generate SOPs or documentation at scale.
  • Apply AI tools within the scope of e-commerce operations: drafting briefs, synthesizing data insights, building process documentation, QA checklists, and cross-functional communications.
  • Evaluate and recommend AI tool integrations that reduce manual effort, improve team velocity, and enhance operational consistency across the business.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in E-commerce Operations, ideally within DTC or high-growth consumer brands.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience (conducting reviews, coaching, discipline), preferably with global teams.
  • Proven recent expertise managing Shopify or Shopify Plus stores.
  • Project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage projects, and oversee day-to-day digital operations.
  • Familiarity with key eCommerce tools and systems, including Klaviyo (email and customer communication), Loop or Recharge (subscriptions), After-Sell (upsells), and Looker / Triple Whale (reporting).
  • Proven experience leveraging paid enterprise AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT Plus, Claude Team, Gemini Advanced) to optimize workflows, improve documentation, and accelerate decision-making in an eCommerce/DTC environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to balance multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable collaborating across departments and managing remote teams.
  • Data-driven mindset with comfort in interpreting metrics and identifying operational bottlenecks.
  • Detail-oriented, problem solver, and calm under pressure.
  • Limited travel may be required.
  • Willingness to work US time zones, regardless of geographic location.
  • Access to a computer, a reliable internet connection, and a distraction-free work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing international Shopify setups (multi-currency, duties, localized pages).
  • Prior exposure to ERP or inventory management systems.
  • Experience with high-volume product launches or rapid creative testing environments.
  • Passion for the health and wellness or supplement space.
  • Proficiency with AI-powered operations: familiarity with prompt engineering, workflow automation using AI tools, or building internal AI-powered documentation systems is a strong differentiator.

Benefits

  • Healthcare
  • dental
  • vision
  • 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays
  • 401K with a best-in-class company match

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
