Summary:

This is a full-time remote role based in the United States.

What makes this role unique:

It's landscape intelligence for the CEO. Not operational strategy or business operations. The closest analogy is a senior analyst at a top research firm, but your research flows directly into what Yelp builds and where it invests. You'll have visibility into how leadership navigates opportunities and how competitive dynamics shape company-wide decisions.

You'll build cumulative domain expertise. This role is about going deep on a landscape and staying close to it over time, not cycling through six-week consulting engagements.

It's remote and autonomous. You manage your own time and research agenda. You'll have a weekly sync with your lead and regular exposure to the SVP of Strategy and C-suite.

What you'll do:

Own a competitive landscape domain end-to-end: identify signals, track competitors, and form the basis for a point of view on business impact.

Produce monthly executive digests covering market trends, competitor updates, and emerging opportunities or threats.

Answer priority questions from the CEO, sometimes in your domain, sometimes entirely new.

Work with peer analysts to connect insights across domains and inform operating teams’ roadmaps.

What it takes to succeed:

You have 4-6+ years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, equity research, industry analysis, or a research-intensive role at a tech company.

Bachelor's degree, preferably with a quantitative focus.

You can synthesize and triangulate multiple sources into one pithy takeaway and impactful visuals that busy execs can understand.

You're energized by ambiguity. Nobody hands you a methodology; you figure out how to answer questions that don't have obvious answers or data sources.

You have strong data and analytical skills, comfortable deriving insights from both quantitative and qualitative sources.

You run multiple threads at once, prioritize what matters most, and adjust as team priorities shift.

You manage yourself well in a remote environment, flagging blockers early and delivering without being chased.

You're collaborative and cross-functional. You build strong peer relationships and can hold your own in exec-level conversations.

What you'll get:

Long term growth opportunities into a leadership position on the Strategy team, or onto an operating team (product, biz ops) where you can apply your strategic lens directly.

Effective your first day: Full medical, vision, and dental

15 days PTO (accrual begins on date of hire and increases with 2+ years of tenure thereafter), 7 paid wellness days, 12 paid holidays, plus one floating holiday

Up to 14 weeks of parental leave

Monthly wellness reimbursement

Health Savings, Flexible Spending and Dependent Care accounts

401(k) retirement savings plan with employer match

Employee stock purchase plan

Compensation range is $108,000-$183,000 annually. You may also be offered a bonus and benefits.

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?
