Job Description

This is a remote position.

We seek a passionate and knowledgeable AP Biology Coach to deliver engaging, high-quality virtual classes for high school students preparing for the AP Biology exam. The instructor will teach biological concepts, foster scientific inquiry, and develop critical thinking skills, ensuring students are well prepared for the exam and for future academic success. This remote role involves using EdTech tools to create an interactive and stimulating learning environment.


Key Responsibilities


Curriculum Design & Lesson Delivery


  • Develop and deliver lessons aligned with the AP Biology curriculum framework.
  • Teach key topics, including cell structure and function, genetics, evolution, ecology, and biochemistry.
  • Integrate lab-based learning into virtual instruction through simulations and interactive tools.
  • Use multimedia resources and EdTech platforms to create dynamic and engaging lessons.


Exam Preparation & Student Support


  • Prepare students for all components of the AP Biology exam, including multiple-choice and free-response sections.
  • Conduct practice exams and provide feedback to improve understanding and exam readiness.
  • Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity, participation, and confidence in biological sciences.
  • Offer strategies for mastering exam content, time management, and critical analysis.


Progress Monitoring & Communication


  • Assess student performance through regular quizzes, assignments, and projects.
  • Maintain clear communication with students and parents about progress, strengths, and improvement areas.
  • Provide tailored support to meet individual student needs, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.


Technical & Administrative Responsibilities


  • Use EdTech tools like Zoom, Google Classroom, or LMS platforms for seamless lesson delivery.
  • Manage attendance, grading, and lesson tracking with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and guide navigating online platforms.



Requirements



Education & Certifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Teaching certification or a background in AP Biology instruction is a strong advantage.


Experience:


  • At least 2 years of experience teaching Biology, with AP Biology teaching experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with the AP Biology curriculum and exam structure is essential.
  • Previous experience teaching in an online environment is highly desirable.


Skills:


  • Strong expertise in biological concepts, scientific reasoning, and experimental design.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage a virtual audience effectively.
  • Proficiency in using EdTech platforms, virtual labs, and digital teaching tools.
  • Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning styles and needs.


Technical Requirements:


Stable internet connection, a computer with a webcam and microphone, and familiarity with virtual teaching tools.
