About the position

McDonald’s Global Technology is seeking a visionary and strategic Sr. Manager, Solutions Architecture, ServiceNow to lead their platform solutions architecture team. This remote leadership role is responsible for defining the strategic architectural direction of the global ServiceNow platform across key functional areas including IT, HR, Finance, Procurement, Cybersecurity, and Legal. The role involves building, managing, and mentoring a team of solutions architects to design scalable, upgrade-safe solutions, and championing the strategic deployment of advanced platform features like Now Assist and Employee Workflows to modernize automation across the corporate ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Mentor a Team: Hire, guide, and manage a high-performing, remote-first team of ServiceNow solutions architects, fostering continuous learning and engineering excellence.
  • Define Architectural Vision: Develop, govern, and maintain the long-term architectural roadmap for the ServiceNow platform, ensuring technology capabilities scale alongside enterprise growth.
  • Drive AI Architecture Strategy: Oversee the architectural strategy for AI-powered services on the platform, including the governance, safety, and integration of Now Assist, NLP models, and our virtual assistant, Otto.
  • Architect Cross-Functional Workflows: Partner with leaders in HR, Finance, Cybersecurity, Legal, and Procurement to design unified, multi-suite solutions (such as HRSD, SecOps, GRC, and custom scoped applications).
  • Enforce Platform Governance: Champion 'Golden Instance' principles and enforce rigorous design-review standards to minimize technical debt and maintain upgrade readiness.
  • Coordinate Strategic Partnerships: Oversee technical relationships with platform vendors, implementation partners, and external consulting teams to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Optimize Enterprise Integration: Govern global platform integration patterns, ensuring secure, high-performance API connections via IntegrationHub and enterprise middleware.
  • Champion Employee Workflows: Architect scalable Employee Workflows that modernize workplace services, enterprise onboarding, and shared-services.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience in IT, Software Engineering, or Enterprise Architecture.
  • 3+ years of experience in ServiceNow platform design, solution architecture, or technical leadership roles within a large, global enterprise.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring technical teams of developers or architects in a complex, remote-first environment.
  • Broad design experience with multi-suite ServiceNow products beyond IT, including HRSD, SecOps, IRM/GRC, App Engine, or custom-scoped portals.
  • Experience guiding strategy and implementation for AI-powered features, conversational agents (such as Otto), or predictive analytics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to align technical and non-technical business leaders.

Nice-to-haves

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA): Preferred.
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS): Highly desirable.
