Job Summary:

Leads healthcare technology strategy and planning for inpatient/outpatient healthcare delivery through cutting edge and large-scale assessments, needs, and site planning, as well as implementing systems and through investment analyses. Creates new and matures existing partnerships for clinical systems deployment and collaborates on incident investigations as needed. Provides healthcare technology expertise for testing clinical systems and equipment, resolving a wide range of complex issues, and documenting overall process. Executes innovative planning for healthcare technology research and assesses new healthcare-related technologies across the enterprise. Provides oversight for compliance/regulatory requirements through coordinating with executive management for relevant processes and reviewing FDA and non-regulatory hazard alerts in a healthcare delivery setting. Develops, analyzes, and manages technology plans through a variety of program management methodologies for the market with consideration of enterprise impacts.
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drives the execution of multiple work streams by identifying member and operational needs; translates business strategy into actionable business requirements; develops and updates new procedures and policies. Gains cross-functional support for objectives and priorities; determines and carries out processes and methodologies; solves highly complex issues; escalates and resolves issues as appropriate; sets standards and measures progress. Develops work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; coordinates, obtains and distributes resources. Removes obstacles that impact performance; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; influences the completion of project tasks by others.

  • Leads clinical systems by: creating new and maturing existing partnerships with user groups and strategic partners and coaching the team to develop equipment configurations, review facility construction plans and equipment lists, and provide technical or environment requirements for deployment highly complex or large-scale projects; and modeling best practice and leading the team on highly complex and large-scale incident investigations and equipment performance analysis on highly complex and ambiguous problems to determine root causes of issues, develop solutions, and driving implementation of preventative measures to ensure a safe environment.

  • Addresses compliance and needed corrections by: coordinating with stakeholders to include executive management to ensure systems and processes are used and maintained in a manner that ensures compliance with all relevant government regulations, accreditation, and industry standards; and developing and implementing quality assurance and evaluation programs for applicable diagnostic imaging equipment to ensure high quality images and radiation treatments and that meet regulatory requirements.

  • Guarantees technical expertise for clinical systems by: leading and coordinating highly technical testing on all clinical systems and associated equipment and technology; serving as an expert across the service area and region for identifying, monitoring, and resolving highly complex and large-scale issues related to clinical systems and healthcare technologies that present a risk to the enterprise; reviewing and ensuring accuracy of documentation for all design specifications, testing, and validating of new and innovative technology to be incorporated into the enterprise and integration with other company business functions in alignment with standards and requirements; providing comprehensive technical expertise and consult for operational impacts of a wide range of complex issues for existing systems and technology, establishing timeframes, and prioritizing projects in alignment with organizational objectives; and creating new cyber security processes and protocols that impact the industry in healthcare and ensure implementation within and the enterprise and collaboration across the industry in accordance with industry and company standards for healthcare technology.

  • Develops strategies for clinical systems by: leading cutting edge and large-scale healthcare technology assessments, needs analysis, and site planning to identify and recommend appropriate healthcare technologies for implementation; leading the assessment, design, and implementation of highly complex and cutting-edge systems that enhance networking, integration, and interoperability of healthcare technologies for the market with consideration of enterprise impacts. driving the application of innovative strategies while conducting highly complex cost-benefit analyses; and collaborating and educating senior leaders to gain buy-in and alignment with care strategies to support healthcare technology purchasing strategies, forecasts, and site contracts that impact short and long-term objectives for the market with consideration of enterprise impacts.

  • Executes innovative planning related to healthcare technologies by: leading the delivery of processes that enables the research, assessment, and development of new health care related technologies, strategies, and concepts while disseminating this information as appropriate across the enterprise and aligning with processes within the broader healthcare technology program; and strategically planning and implementing the research process for the enterprise, to stay abreast of cutting-edge technology, future roadmaps, and industry trends around products and services, and coordinating technology pilots (e.g., attending conferences or tradeshows, vendor product events).

  • Develops, analyzes, and manages technology plans by: providing expert guidance for complex technologies which include ensuring strategy and scope identification, managing schedules, evaluating inter-dependencies, and resource forecasting for a clinical portfolio for the market with consideration of enterprise impacts; and leading overall portfolio performance (e.g., on time, on budget, within scope, and with quality) against plan, ensuring measurement of business benefits and outcomes, and making adjustments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Minimum two (2) years of experience managing operational or project budgets.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in project management.

  • Bachelors degree in engineering (Biomedical, Clinical, Mechanical, Electrical), engineering technology, or related field AND minimum eight (8) years of experience in engineering or a directly related field OR Minimum eleven (11) years of experience in engineering or a directly related field.


  • Clinical Engineer Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years of experience in a leadership role of a large matrixed organization.
  • Five (5) years of experience in health care.
