Ready to Start Your Career with the City of Temple?<br><br><strong>Summary<br><br></strong>Assists with operating, monitoring, controlling, testing, and troubleshooting water supply, treatment plant, distribution system and storage facilities. Work under the direct supervision of a licensed operator. Must be available to work flexible hours at 24-hour facility to include weekends and holidays.<br><br><strong>Essential Duties And Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Continues developing the basic knowledge and skills for the essential operations of the water treatment plant and facilities, including both conventional and membrane treatment, in accordance with State and Federal regulations</li><li>Operates and monitors treatment process using Supervisory Controller & Data Acquisition (SCADA); adjusts chemicals and treatment equipment in accordance with regulatory permits</li><li>Performs laboratory duties, maintains instruments, monitors quality control, collects samples, conducts analyses, and prepares samples for transport</li><li>Enters sample analysis into daily log and ensures accuracy of all records/reports on their shift</li><li>Meets daily with supervisor and reports performance of the entire system</li><li>Completes the required courses and on-the-job training needed for the ‘D’ Water License and ‘C’ Surface Water License</li><li>Assists with TCEQ inspections, construction and maintenance projects</li><li>Works in confined space and works around hazardous chemicals</li><li>Operates heavy equipment for facility maintenance including lift and boom trucks</li><li>Assists with sludge removal, transferring and disposal</li><li>Performs preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, and tanks; cleans and services all areas throughout the plant</li><li>Calibrates and performs maintenance on mechanical, analytical, instrumentation and telemetry equipment</li><li>Develops the knowledge and ability to solve problems under normal and stressful conditions.</li><li>Attends TWUA monthly trainings</li><li>Maintains certification and completes continuing educations training courses</li><li>Follows the city policies, procedures and safety guidelines pertaining to the work area and equipment </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Minimum Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>High School diploma or equivalent<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations <br><br></strong><ul><li>Valid Class “D” Water Licensing from TCEQ <br><br><br></li></ul>Thank you for your interest in the position.
