Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Real Estate Underwriter to join our dynamic remote team. The ideal candidate will evaluate, analyze, and underwrite commercial real estate loan applications while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. This role is pivotal in assessing the financial feasibility of commercial properties and supporting the organization in making sound lending decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate commercial real estate loan applications, including reviewing borrower financials, property cash flows, and market conditions.

• Perform comprehensive risk assessments to ensure compliance with company underwriting standards and lending policies.

• Analyze appraisals, environmental reports, rent rolls, and property performance data.

• Prepare accurate and timely credit memos and underwriting summaries for management approval.

• Collaborate with loan officers, credit analysts, and external stakeholders to gather necessary documentation and resolve discrepancies.

• Stay updated on market trends, lending regulations, and industry best practices to maintain underwriting excellence.

• Ensure the highest level of accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all underwriting activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of commercial lending practices, real estate valuation, and market analysis.

• Proficiency in financial modeling, risk assessment, and cash flow analysis.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data clearly.

• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commercial real estate underwriting, preferably with banks, mortgage companies, or financial institutions.

• Experience in handling diverse commercial property types including retail, office, industrial, and multifamily assets.

Working Hours

• Full-time, remote position with flexible working hours.

• Standard workweek: Monday to Friday with occasional requirements for time-sensitive project deadlines.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of real estate finance principles and underwriting guidelines.

• Familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS) and financial analysis software.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.

• Ability to interpret complex financial statements, appraisals, and property documentation.
