We are seeking an experienced Public Relations Specialist / PR Consultant with a strong background in healthcare communications and healthcare distribution to support an upcoming communications project. The ideal freelancer will understand the healthcare industry, have experience developing PR strategies and media outreach, and know how to position healthcare-related companies, products, services, and initiatives in a credible and compelling way.

What You'll Do

Develop and execute a targeted PR strategy for a healthcare-focused client

Identify relevant media outlets, journalists, editors, publications, podcasts, and industry platforms

Build and maintain targeted media lists

Develop compelling press angles and story ideas

Write, edit, and distribute press releases and media pitches

Conduct targeted media outreach and follow up with journalists

Identify opportunities for earned media, interviews, features, thought leadership, and industry coverage

Monitor media coverage and track PR outreach, responses, placements, and results

We are specifically looking for someone who has direct experience working in healthcare PR, healthcare communications, medical marketing, healthcare distribution, medical products, or a closely related field.

Experience with healthcare distribution is strongly preferred.

The ideal freelancer understands the unique considerations involved in communicating within the healthcare space, including:

Healthcare distributors and distribution networks

Medical products and services

Healthcare providers and professionals

Healthcare organizations and institutions

Medical and healthcare publications

Healthcare industry trade media

B2B healthcare communications

Healthcare-related messaging and storytelling

Experience working with healthcare distributors, medical device companies, pharmaceutical companies, healthcare technology, hospitals, health systems, or other healthcare-related businesses is a plus.

Required Experience

3+ years of professional PR, public relations, or communications experience

Demonstrated experience securing earned media coverage

Healthcare PR or healthcare communications experience

Experience with media relations and journalist outreach

Strong press release and media pitch writing skills

Experience researching and building targeted media lists

Strong understanding of the healthcare media landscape

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and manage deadlines

Strong research, organization, and follow-up skills

Ability to translate complex information into compelling PR messaging

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a strategic PR professional—not simply someone who can write a press release.

You should be able to understand a client's goals, identify the right audiences and media opportunities, develop a compelling story angle, and proactively pursue coverage.

We're especially interested in freelancers who can demonstrate actual PR results, such as earned media placements, interviews, features, contributed articles, podcast appearances, or industry coverage.
