Personal Trainer with a Way with Words? Help Train the Next Generation of AI

Location: Remote

Type of contract: Freelance

Hourly Rate: $20/h

About Prolific

Prolific is not just another player in the AI space – we are building the biggest pool of quality human data in the world.

Over 35,000 AI developers, researchers, and organizations use Prolific to gather data from paid study participants with a wide variety of experiences, knowledge, and skills.

The Opportunity

Do you love coaching people and love writing? This one's for you.

We're looking for experienced US-based personal trainers who also have a real appetite for writing. Maybe you kept a blog on the side. Maybe you wrote for your university paper, have a half-finished novel in a drawer, or you just find yourself explaining things in painstaking detail because you can't help it. If putting things into words is something you enjoy rather than endure, we'd love to hear from you.

The task: take one long-term process that's central to your work as a personal trainer, something like building and adjusting a client's program across a multi-month arc, coaching someone through a major goal like a first marathon or significant weight loss, or guiding a client back from a plateau or an injury, and write it up as a detailed, honest account of exactly how it's done. Not a checklist. A proper account, told the way a good writer tells it, with the judgment calls and instincts included.

Once you sign up, you'll complete a short, paid writing assessment (compensated at $9/h). Joining our talent pool for this project also opens the door to similar paid projects in future. Everything is fully remote and ad hoc, on a freelance basis, with full control over which projects you accept. Payments are made via PayPal.

What you’ll bring

3 to 5 years of professional experience as a personal trainer, strength coach, or similar

A real interest in writing. Any background works here: academic writing, blogging, journaling, freelance work, or simply being the person who writes the most thoughtful client check-ins. You don't need to be published, just someone who enjoys the craft.

A preference for depth over brevity. You'd rather explain something properly than gloss over it.

The reliability to see a full outline through once you're matched to a task.

Tasks

Pick one task. Choose a single long-term task that's a genuine, recurring, critical part of your work as a personal trainer.

Write it thoroughly, in your own voice, from start to finish. Depending on complexity, outlines typically run 5 to 25 pages.

Stick to one task per outline. This is about real depth on a single process, not a tour of your whole role.

Include the steps, the tools and information you draw on, the decision points and the edge cases. The kind of detail that makes something worth reading, and useful for an AI model trying to learn from it.

Why Prolific is a great platform to join as a Participant

Joining our platform as a Prolific participant will give you the chance to influence the AI models of the future your professional expertise. Once you pass our assessment, you can join Prolific in just 15 minutes, and start enjoying competitive pay rates, flexible hours, and the ability to work from home.

We've built a unique platform that connects researchers and companies with a global pool of participants, enabling the collection of high-quality, ethically sourced human behavioural data and feedback. This data is the cornerstone of developing more accurate, nuanced, and aligned AI systems.

We believe that the next leap in AI capabilities won't come solely from scaling existing models, but from integrating diverse human perspectives and behaviours into AI development. By providing this crucial human data infrastructure, Prolific is positioning itself at the forefront of the next wave of AI innovation – one that reflects the breadth and the best of humanity.

Links to more information on Prolific

Website

Youtube

Privacy Statement

By submitting your application, you agree that Prolific may collect your personal data for recruiting and global organisation planning. 2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
